Los Angeles Lakers: A Season to Forget

2016 NBA Western Conference Finish

15th Place

The 2015-2016 Los Angeles Lakers season was one to forget. The team finished with a dismal 17-65 record, good for 15th place in the NBA's Western Conference. It was the Lakers' worst finish since the 1957-1958 season.

The Lakers' struggles were evident from the start of the season. The team lost its first five games and never recovered. Injuries played a major role in the Lakers' struggles, as Kobe Bryant, Julius Randle, and Brandon Ingram all missed significant time.

Despite the injuries, the Lakers did have some bright spots. D'Angelo Russell showed promise in his rookie season, averaging 13.2 points and 4.5 assists per game. Jordan Clarkson also had a solid season, averaging 15.5 points per game.

However, the Lakers' overall performance was simply not good enough. The team lacked leadership, chemistry, and talent. As a result, the Lakers finished the season with the worst record in the NBA.

The Lakers are hoping to bounce back from their disappointing season in 2016-2017. The team has added some new players, including Luol Deng and Timofey Mozgov. The Lakers are also hoping that Bryant, Randle, and Ingram can all stay healthy.

If the Lakers can stay healthy and get some good performances from their new players, they could be a playoff contender in 2016-2017. However, the Lakers have a lot of work to do before they can be considered a title contender.
