Carlos Sainz claims maiden F1 victory at British Grand Prix
Sainz wins after thrilling finale, Perez second, Hamilton takes home podium
Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz has claimed his first Formula 1 victory after a breath-taking contest at the British Grand Prix. Sainz started from pole position and led for much of the race, but was closely pursued by Red Bull's Sergio Perez. In a thrilling finale, Sainz managed to hold off Perez to take the victory, with Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton taking the final podium spot.
Sainz's victory is his first in Formula One and is a major milestone in his career. It is also Ferrari's first victory since the 2019 Singapore Grand Prix.
Perez finished second, just 0.8 seconds behind Sainz, while Hamilton finished third, a further 3.6 seconds adrift. Max Verstappen, who started from 10th place after a penalty, finished seventh.
