Terence Bud Crawford Wins 12 Rounds For Madrimovs WBA 154-Pound Title
Undercard Packed With Titles, Controversial Fighter Returns, Rising Star Debuts
The undercard of the Terence Crawford vs. Israil Madrimov fight card at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif., featured several title fights, the return of a controversial fighter, and the debut of a rising star.
In the main event, Crawford won a 12-round unanimous decision over Madrimov to claim the WBA junior middleweight title. The win extended Crawford's undefeated record to 39-0 and added another title to his collection.
The undercard featured a number of other title fights, including Isaac Cruz's victory over Jose Matias Romero to win the WBC lightweight title. Cruz is now 23-2-1 with 16 knockouts, while Romero dropped to 26-6-1.
Another notable fight on the undercard was the return of former IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter. Porter knocked out Edner Cherry in the eighth round to improve to 32-4-1 with 18 knockouts. Cherry fell to 38-10-2.
The undercard also featured the debut of rising star Vergil Ortiz Jr. Ortiz, who is considered one of the best prospects in boxing, knocked out Emmanuel Wallace in the sixth round to improve to 19-0 with 19 knockouts. Wallace dropped to 14-3-1.
The Crawford vs. Madrimov fight card was a successful night for boxing, with several titles on the line and a number of exciting fights.
